McBride Cemetery
Newton Co., MO   Sometime in the late 1960's the stones were taken from the cemetery & put in a trench silo and buried under 6 ft. of debris. A former owner said they were scattered all about when they moved there and finally taken away. She knew that the names on the stones were McBride. After a little research, it was learned that Addison McBride came to the area and purchased 40 acres in 1877. In 1890, he married Mrs. L. A. Holliday. His first wife, Eliz., must have died before that time and may be one of those buried in the cemetery. He sold the land in 1892 and moved to McDonald County where he died in 1899 and is buried in May Cemetery.

Only rediscovered a few years ago, there are no stones. Zehrs were Apostolic and didn't believe in ornamentation such as writing on gravestones and some didn't believe in gravestones. This cemetery must have been from an earlier time. There are no stones. It is unknown who is buried here unless a descendant knows. Joseph Zehr owned 640 acres where the cemetery is located.

Newton County Burials - Cemetery Unknown

The county line between Newton and McDonald counties was moved north at one time then subsequently moved back to almost its original position. The town of Stella, which is in Newton County, was in McDonald County while the line was north of its origin. Therefore, in this cemetery listing are some cemeteries that are now in McDonald County.
