(submitter’s note: Martha was born to Rev Samuel and wife Millie (Moore) Bell in Berry Co., MO. She later grew up in Newton County, MO where she married Joseph Wood Embree in 1861)

The funeral of Martha A. Embree, nee Bell, took place Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the United Davis-Vories chapel. Rev. Wm B. Kirby conducted the services, Mrs. S.C. Ainley and Mrs. E.R. Owens accompanied by Mrs. Orval Wilson sang “Come, Ye Disconsolate,” “Face to Face” and “Rock of Ages”. The pall bearers were Clarence Embree, George Embree, Harold Poor, Earl Culbertson, Boone Davis, and Chas. Hughes. Interment was made in Roselawn cemetery.
