  • Seeking death date and burial place of Middia Johnson Matthews Evants/EVance, d bet. May 1841 and Feb 1842 in Jasper Co., MO. Her first marriage was to Aaron Matthew in Surry Co., NC; and second to Cairy/Carey Evants/EVance (1840 census Newton Co., MO; 1850 census Jasper Co., MO). Middia is believed to be the sister of the Eli T. Johnson who was named guardian for her minor children sometime before Feb 1842. Guardianship bond was executed in Newton Co., MO, but yearly accounting was in Jasper Co., MO. Eli T. Johnson and his wife, Susannah Hall, are buried in the Miller Cem., east of Joplin. Where is Middia buried? What happened to Cairy/Carey Evants/Evance?

He married 28 Jan 1861 to Sarah Francis PAUL. I have some information that puts him in Newton Co. Mo around 1865-70. However, I have never been able to confirm this bit of information. William d.1879 and is buried in the Old Fairview Cemetery in Joplin, MO. John Q.:b.1857,d.1877 and buried there too. What was the cause of death? Cordelia:b.1862 IA. Believe she married David JORDAN,who was a boarder of William's in 1880. Would like info on the marriage,children, and deaths. James A.: b.1869 Newton Co.MO.; d.1948 Jasper Co.MO; m.Effie Alma DUNKLE: b.1870 MO,d.1929 MO.; and they had 2 sons: Ralph KYTE and Alva Roscoe KYTE. They were in McDonald Co.MO in the 1910 census, but James and Effie are both buried in Joplin. Any help or leads will be very much appreciated.

  • I'm looking for information on MRS E R SLOCUM who was born aft 1882 in TEXAS and living in NEOSHO, Newton county, MO when her father, Willis G COUSINS died. He died 14 jul 1941, in Kirkland /Quanah, TX and was born in Cartersville, GA 4 feb 1859. I know of only one of her brothers names, Jessie Calvert COUSINS, who died in 1939. Her mother was Agatha WYNNE. I'm seeking her decendants to learn further information on her first name, her brothers and sisters names and where they might have gone. THIS IS the last brother and his family I need to find. He came to TEXAS with his mother in 1872. His father was killed at the battle of Cold Harbor 3 Jun 1864.   • KITCHINGHAM - HANCOCK Need information on Charles Samuel KITCHINGHAM and Grace HANCOCK, who were married Feburary 8, 1884 in Neosho, Newton Co, MO,(ML Bk C pg 578). They had two children: a son (Charles Edward ?) and an unknown child (unknown Gender). Charles Samuel departed the scene around 1888. What happened to Grace Hancock Kitchingham, and the two children. Did she re-marry, if so, to whom? What happened to the children and where did they live? Who was Grace Hancock's parents? Any information of any nature would very much appreciated.   • Looking for information on John PLUMMER, Magistrate for Neosho, Newton Co. 1860 Census lists him b. 1811, in NC. His sons are Alson Richard PLUMMER and John PLUMMER. Alson PLUMMER married Cordelia HART, and moved by wagon train to Dallas Co, TX, then on the Shackelford Co, TX, where he died in 1904. They had children Samuel Rezin, Laura, Farrest, Alson Quincy, Mary, John William, and Onah (female). Brother of Alson, John had 3 daug and one son Lannie. Lannie had one son and one daugher and lived the John Plummer homestead in 1949 near Anderson, MO. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • I'm looking for information about Jacob SISCO, John S. SISCO, and William Henry Sisco. John and William are two of Jacobs sons and they were born in Neosho in 1857 and 1858 respectively. Unfortunately I can't seem to locate them in the 1860 census in Missouri. Any information about a SISCO in Newton County would be much appreciated.

  • I am looking for information on Joe W. Finn and his wife Vina Elizabeth Ferguson. Vina was born in Newton Co. between Richey and Newtonia on her father's farm on October 28, 1902. Vina later taught school for a few years at Richey. Her father's name was James Albert Ferguson and her mother's name was Margaret Elizabeth Neal. There were six children in the family Lucinda, Johnny, Effie, Ada, Vina, and David. There was a grandma Innis mentioned. Vina had a childhood friend by the name of Mamie Bullington.

  • I am looking for the descendants of Thomas Oscar JAY and Minnie Isabel MARTIN. They were married in on 1 Nov 1914. If anyone has any information on this family I would like to hear from you. Thomas was the son of Thomas JAY and Lillian Gertrude MOONEY and was born in Almena, Norton Co., Kansas on 26 Feb 1890. Lillian was a sister to my great grandfather, Abraham MOONEY. Minnie is the daughter of Christopher Columbus MARTIN and Margaret SMITH. Both Thomas and Minnie are buried in the New Salem Cemetery west of Neosho. Thanks for the help...Bob

  • I am looking for information on Francis F. SANDERS and wife Hester or Hetty (LEDBETTER) SANDERS. I was last able to locate them on the 1860 Newton County census in Granby. Francis was a miner. If anyone has information on this family, please contact me. Hester's maiden name was LEDBETTER. This information was taken from a death certificate of their daughter Julia (SANDERS) YOUNG.
